James relocated to the Boston area from Maryland where he was a Technology Transfer Manager for the National Cancer Institute. While at the NCI, he evaluated invention disclosures, assessed patentability, and managed the patenting and marketing of technologies. He has drafted and negotiated licenses and other types of agreements. He was also involved in identifying and developing research projects for the NCI’s internal funding program, which is similar to TIDO’s Technology Development Fund.

He has a BS in biology from Davidson College and a PhD in chemistry from Emory University. James joined TIDO as licensing manager in 2019.
